A great Christmas present

In a recent one-day retreat meant as a preparation for Christmas excellently organized by the Maltese Patristic Society I received a great gift indeed. A gift which I humbly share with all of you.

In one of his writings Saint Maximos the Confessor (580-662) writes the following: “The divine Logos [i.e. the Word], who once for all was born in the flesh, always in His compassion desires to be born in spirit in those who desire Him. He becomes an infant and moulds Himself in them through the virtues.”

Lord Jesus, born in Bethlehem, mould yourself in me through your virtues. Amen.
