Lectio Divina tat-3 Ħadd tal-Avvent. Sena “A”

Vanġelu  (Mattew 11, 2 – 11): Ġwanni priġunier fil-fortizza Makeronte ta’ Erodi, li kienet fuq quċċata ta’ muntanja lil hinn mill-Baħar Mejjet.  F’din il-fortizza kien hemm is-sala fejn żifnet Salome u talbet ras Ġwanni.  Erodja riedet toqtol lil Ġwanni għax kien perikoluż u n-nies kienu jżommu miegħu meta jixliha li kienet qed tiddradixxi lil żewġha.  Erodi jarresta lil Ġwanni kemm għax kien qed isir popolari wisq u kemm biex jipproteġih minn Erodja, u jżommu taħt għajnejh.  Erodi kien joqgħod jisimgħu u kien jittrattah tajjeb.  Kien iħalli d-dixxipli tiegħu jiġu jarawh.  Dawn kienu jtarrfulu x’qed jgħid u x’qed jagħmel Ġesu. For the persecuted and their persecutors

Power and control are diabolical. Yet they are present in our families, society, convents, working places and where we live and work. An encouraging word for the oppressed comes by Lori Deschene:

“If you were judged, choose understanding. If you were rejected, choose acceptance. If you were shamed, choose compassion. Be the person you needed when you were hurting, not the person who hurt you.
