Be humble in loving your neighbour

For this month of October 2023, I would like to share this reflection of mine called ‘Be humble in loving your neighbour‘. I hope that this reflection will help you to truly be a humble person, and to seek peace in life.

Be humble in loving your neighbour

Loving our neighbor is very important in life. Helping people to have a better life is of utmost importance in today’s society. Many people are in need to have clothes, to have food, to be educated, to be provided with a decent place where to live, and different other kind of needs.

When we help these people, are we being proud of ourselves and boasting about the help we provided, or we are humble for helping the needy? When helping the needy, this is to be done by doing the will of God, and not by my own will. In other words, to help the needy, just like Jesus did, is to be humble to do the will of God.

There is no place in heaven for those who are proud of themselves for helping the needy. But, on the other hand, humble people who help the needy will be welcomed in the Kingdom of God. So, whenever you be in a situation and can help the needy, remember what is written in James 4:6, that “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”, and hopefully you choose to be a humble person when loving your neighbor.
