L-edizzjoni ta’ Ottubru tilqa’ lill-qarrej b’ritratt brillanti fuq il-qoxra li juri ż-żjara tal-Prinċipessa Eliżabetta f’Għawdex fl-1954 biex tinawgura l-Monument tal-Gwerra fil-Belt Victoria, waħda mit-temi ttrattati f’artiklu dwar il-ħajja tar-Reġina li mietet f’Settembru.

Paġni oħra jiddokumentaw ġrajjiet oħra li nżammu dan l-aħħar. Dawn jinkludu kunċerti fil-beraħ, produzzjonijiet teatrali, laqgħat atletiċi, u taħditiet pubbliċi. Naqraw ukoll kif fil-Festival tal-Inbid fil-Fontana kien hemm għażla ta’ xi għoxrin marka bi produzzjoni Għawdxija. Artiklu interessanti jiffoka fuq SMART, proġett lodevoli li litteralment jippromovi l-proċess ta’ integrazzjoni bejn id-dinja tan-natura u l-arti, u jeduka lill-parteċipanti għall-apprezzament tan-natura waqt li jagħtihom sodisfazzjon. L-editorjal, fost l-oħrajn, jissapportja l-fehma, għal raġuni tajba, li l-iskejjel jerġgħu jingħataw l-ismijiet li kellhom qabel, ismijiet li spiss iċċelebraw il-memorja ta’ persunaġġi prominenti minn bliet u rħula u tawhom identità. U ħafna iżjed…

Il-Ħajja f’Għawdex, October 2022, No 1041

The October edition welcomes the reader with a brilliant cover photo of the then Princess Elisabeth’s visit to Gozo in 1954 to inaugurate the war memorial in Victoria, one of the topics treated in an article on the late Queen’s life. Other pages put on record various other events held recently. These include outdoor concerts, theatre productions, athletic meetings, and public talks. We also learn that the Fontana Wine Festival offered some twenty brands produced in Gozo. An interesting article focuses on SMART, a laudable project that promotes the process of literally integrating the world of nature with artwork, a process that educates participants in the appreciation of nature and gives them a sense of fulfilment. The editorial, inter alia, supports the view, for good reason, that schools should be given back their former names, names which very often celebrated the memory of prominent personages of towns and villages and gave them an identity. And much more.
