This Months Reflection

Finding Strength in the Storm

Life as a Christian isn’t always easy, and honestly, it can get really messy. Jesus never promised we’d have it all together or that everyone would cheer us on for following Him. But here’s the truth that keeps us grounded: “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33). No matter what comes at you—haters, hard choices, or just feeling misunderstood—you’re not facing it alone. Jesus is right there with you, steadying your heart, helping you find strength in the storm.

Staying close to Jesus isn’t just some nice suggestion—it’s survival for your soul. Think of it like this: you can’t be fully charged if you’re unplugged. Prayer, reading the Bible, going to mass and hanging out with other believers are your lifelines. Especially when it feels like your beliefs make you the odd one out at school, university, work, or even with friends. Jesus reminds us: ““I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing’’. (John 15:5). Leaning into Him gives you courage, clarity, and peace, even when the world pushes back.

Persecution today might not always be dramatic, but it’s real. You might face bullying for your faith, get judged for your choices, lose opportunities, or feel pressure to stay quiet about God. Around the globe, some believers risk jobs, freedom, or even safety just for following Jesus. Psalm 28:7 gives us this boost: “The Lord is my strength and my shield, my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.” Whatever struggles you face, God can turn them into something that strengthens your faith instead of breaking it—helping you find strength in the storm.

So, don’t shrink back. Whatever comes—like sarcastic comments, being left out, tough decisions—Jesus has got your back. He promises: “I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20). Let that sink in. You are never alone. Let it give you confidence to live boldly, trust fully, and shine God’s light wherever you are—even when it feels hard. Keep walking with Him; the world needs your faith, your courage, and your light.
