The JP2 Cultural Foundation in full collaboration with Missio Malta (Gozo Office) are holding a recital by Gozitan legendary singer Mario Caruana, well known for his interpretation of the popular song “Ħamiema Bajda”, The White Dove. This event for the month of July is part of the JP2 Memorial Festival 2026.
The event also has a philanthropic purpose. Ms Carmen Formosa from Gozo will be joining a group of volunteers from Malta participating in a missionary experience in Tanzania. While there, they will be helping the Sisters of the Assumption, a female congregation of Oblate ~ in the Diocese of Arusha. There they will be working with orphan children, mothers with children with special needs, poor families with social problems and also with the sick.
The Gozitan Celebrity will be accompanied by the Gozitan soprano Maria Caruana, who happens to be his daughter.
The recital will hold different legendary songs of all times.
The last part of the recital will be dedicated to sacred hymns, with the presence of Fr. Marcello Ghirlando.
The event will take place on THURSDAY 30th JULY 2026 starting at 20.30hrs in Triq Santa Maria, Victoria in the open-air space on the side of Savina Church.

Il-Fondazzjoni Papa San Ġwanni Pawlu II marufa bħala il “JP2 Cultural Foundation”, b’kollaborazzjoni sħiħa mal- Missio Malta (Uffiċċju ta’ Għawdex), ser jorganizzaw kunċert mill-kantant leġġendarju Għawdxi Mario Caruana magħruf sew għall-interpretazzjoni tiegħu tal-kanzunetta popolari “Ħamiema Bajda”. Dan l-avveniment huwa parti mill-“JP2 Memorial Festival 2026” għax-xahar ta’ Lulju.
Din l’attivita għanda wkoll skop filantropiku. Is-Sinjura Carmen Formosa minn Għawdex se tingħaqad ma’ grupp ta’ voluntiera minn Malta li ser jipparteċipaw f’esperjenza missjonarja fit-Tanżanija. Se jgħinu lis-Sorijiet tal-Assunta, kongregazzjoni femminili ta’ Oblati fid-Djoċesi ta’ Arusha. Hemmhekk se jaħdmu mat-tfal orfni, ommijiet bi tfal bi bżonnijiet speċjali, familji fqar bi problemi soċjali kif wkoll mal-morda.
Il-kantant ċelebri Għawdxi se tkun akkumpanjata mis-sopran Għawdxija Maria Caruana, li hija bintu.
Il-kunċert se jinkludi diversi kanzunetti leġġendarji ta’ kull żmien. L-aħħar parti tal-kunċert se tkun iddedikata għal innijiet sagri, fil-preżenza ta’ Patri Marcello Ghirlando.
L-attivita se jsir nhar il-Ħamis 30 ta’ Lulju 2026 u tibda fit-20.30pm fi Triq Santa Marija, Victoria fl-ispazju fil-beraħ fil-ġenb tal-Knisja ta’ Savina.
