Ħarġa ta’ Marzu 2021, No 1026

Kif wieħed jistenna, fil-ħarġa ta’ Marzu l-prominenza hi mogħtija lil San Ġużepp. Dan il-qaddis ‘kwiet’ u umli hu s-suġġett ta’ bosta’ artikli dwar riflessjonijiet spiritwali, opri tal-arti, tradizzjonijiet, dokumenti tal-Papiet u rakkonti oħra. L-aħbarijiet djoċesani tipikament ikopru firxa ta’ ġrajjiet u avvenimenti oħra, fosthom seminars, appuntamenti u taħditiet.

Din it-taqsima tiddokumenta wkoll ir-restrizzjonijiet imħabbra dan l-aħħar li japplikaw sal-11 ta’ April u li allura jaffettwaw l-attendenza fil-knejjes għall-bqija tar-Randan. L-intervista tax-xahar hi ma’ Dr Josianne Cutajar, l-ewwel MEP Għawdxija, li tindirizza, imqar jekk fil-qosor, argumenti sensittivi bħall-ħarsien tat-tarbija qabel it-twelid u xi jfisser f’termini tal-UE li post jiġi ddikjarat ‘reġjun’. Din l-aħħar tema hi ttrattata b’iktar dettall f’artiklu ieħor ta’ din ir-rivista. Naqraw ukoll dwar proġetti li għaddejjin bħalissa jew tlestew, bħal-‘Learning Garden’, il-Mużew ta’ Għawdex, il-Mitħna tax-Xewkija u t-tiġdid fit-Teatru Astra, biex ma nsemmux ukoll wirjiet, kunċerti u inizjattivi sportivi.

Il-Ħajja f’Għawdex, March 2021, No 1026

Pride of place in the March edition is predictably given to St Joseph. This ‘quiet’ and unassuming saint is the subject of several articles describing spiritual reflections, works of art, traditions, papal pronouncements and other narratives. The diocesan news typically cover a range of events and other items including seminars, appointments, and talks.

This section also records the tighter restrictions announced recently which apply till April 11 and which therefore affect church attendance throughout the rest of Lent. The interview of the month spotlights Dr Josianne Cutajar, the first Gozitan MEP, who addresses, albeit briefly, sensitive issues like the protection of the unborn and what it means in EU terms for a place to be declared a ‘region’. This latter topic is taken up in more detail elsewhere in this periodical. We can also read about projects in progress or that have been completed, like the ‘Learning Garden’, the Gozo Museum, the Xewkija Windmill and the upgrading of Teatru Astra, not to mention exhibitions, concerts and sports initiatives.
