L-edizzjoni ta’ April tar-Rivista Il-Ħajja f’Għawdex toffri diversi rapporti u riflessjonijiet fuq iż-żjara riċenti tal-Papa Franġisku f’Għawdex. Il-laqgħa kordjali u emozzjonanti tiegħu quddiem is-Santwarju Nazzjonali Ta’ Pinu tista’ titqies il-‘highlight’ taż-żjara tiegħu lil pajjiżna.

Ta’ interess kbir hi l-iskoperta ta’ post qadim tad-dfin f’Ta’ Kerċem, li jmur lura 4,000 sena, u allura hu wieħed mill-eqdem siti tat-tip tiegħu fir-reġjun tal-Mediterran. Hemm ukoll artikli dwar ir-Reġina Eliżabetta, li waslet fis-70 sena tagħha fuq it-tron Brittaniku, u l-erba’ żjajjar tagħha f’Għawdex. Is-serje dwar vittmi Għawdxin tat-Tieni Gwerra Dinjija tkompli dan ix-xahar bix-Xewkija: uħud minnhom mietu fuq vapuri merkantili fl-ibħra Atlantiċi. Qarrejja oħra jafu jkunu interessati jaqraw dwar ir-rivalitajiet parrokkjali f’Għawdex wara l-Gwerra, riċensjonijiet fuq l-edukazzjoni u s-satira politika, u diversi anniversarji u kommemorazzjonijiet.

Il-Ħajja f’Għawdex, April 2022, No 1037

The April edition of Il-Ħajja f’Għawdex offers extensive reports and reflections on the recent visit of Pope Francis to Gozo. His warm and cordial prayer meeting at the National Shrine of Ta’ Pinu could very well have been the highlight of his visit to our country. A newsy item is the discovery of an ancient burial site in Ta’ Kerċem, reputed to be more than 4,000 years old, which would make it the oldest site of this type in the Mediterranean region. There are also articles on Queen Elizabeth, now in her 70th year on the British throne, and her four visits to Gozo. The series on Gozitan World War II casualties continues, and this month we read about those from Xewkija, some of whom perished on merchant ships on the high seas. Others may be interested to read about postwar parochial rivalries, book reviews on education and political satire, and various anniversaries and commemorations.
